Students will be expected to apply mental mathematics strategies for multiplication, including • multiplying by multiples of 10, 100, and 1000 • halving and doubling • using the distributive property • Performance Indicators - N04.01 Determine the products when one factor is a multiple of 10, 100, or 1000. - N04.02 Apply halving and doubling when determining a given product (e.g., 32 × 5 is the same as 16 × 10). - N04.03 Apply the distributive property to determine a given product that involves multiplying factors that are close to multiples of 10 (e.g., 98 × 7 = (100 × 7) – (2 × 7)).
